Born and raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Heather Davey grew up with a love of art and all things creative.
Heather’s photography captures nature’s beauty, urban city life and the spirit of animals. Her photography utilizes colours and brightness to convey a sense of emotion and theme. Her bright, bold colours are often replaced with subdued and relaxed tones… but sometimes Heather feels colour isn't needed at all.
In her short videos, Heather focuses on simplistic, yet captivating imagery and subject matter. Her videos are taken on the go through her travels or simply just something she finds interesting or captivating. Each video is then edited and carefully paired with a song. The goal of each video is to convey a theme, a feeling, or even a single thought to the viewer.
Family friend, photographer and film producer, Faan van Tonder, described Heather as “a photographer who often breaks the rules and gets away with it, while most can’t”.
In 2017, Heather graduated from the Interactive Media Development program at Confederation College in Thunder Bay, where she focused on photography, 3D graphics, graphic design and web development. After graduating, she went on to explore Advanced Special Effects at Sheridan College, however a few months into the program she realized it just wasn't for her and chose to seek new adventures.
Sometime in 2019 and after a few trips around the world to South Africa, Heather re discovered her passion for design and set her focus on creating a brand she could live by - East Oliver
Named after East Oliver Lake where Heather grew up, and established in North Western Ontario, East Oliver was designed with northern Canadian nature as inspiration, and based on modern and minimalistic design.
